    It was! And probably one of the most expensive and labor intensive ice creams I have ever eaten.You also have to make almond milk. Basically you take a cup of cream, a cup of milk, 3/4 cup of sugar and a cup of almonds and warm it up and then cover and let it seep for an hour. Straining the nuts out of the milk wouldn't have been so bad if I had had a slightly larger strainer.After the almond milk is ready, you basically heat it up again and add 5 egg yolks to make a custard. Once the custard is ready, you strain it into a bowl with the remaining cup of cream and add a 1/4 tsp of almond extract. Set that in an ice bath and let cool before preparing in the ice cream maker.Another cup of almonds gets added at the end, along with the cherries and chocolate chips. I have a whole new respect for almond ice cream.The cherries were about $5, the nuts almost $8, and the almond extract was also $8 although we used very little. Plus there were the eggs and the pint of cream.
