Hope you and those you care about and I suppose those you dont care about! are safe and sound! They say the building codes helped make things less severe….?

Chino Hills is a rapidly developing area. They have gone from about 40K residents to about 80K in under a decade (closer to 5 years). Most of the homes are under 10 years old. There are developments of identical little boxes, um houses. Nothing is over 2 stories. Even the commercial development is all under 5 stories. They just got a new outdoor mall about a month ago. Among the shops are Trader Joe's, Banana Republic, Panera, Barnes & Nobel, and P.F. Chang's. This is across the street from another large shopping center and across the freeway from two others. Damage does appear to be very minimal. The house I am in is about 25 years old. It shook pretty hard, but everything seems fine. Biggest concern is a crack in the vaulted ceiling from the Northridge quake may be a bit more defined. One day the stucco is going to come crashing down.I always forget how loud earthquakes are. The noise makes them more scary.
